Thoughts on Today 10.27.16

Hello friends! Welcome! I'm enjoying my day off by catching up on blog stuff and doing some shopping downtown. I just wanted to fill you in on what I've been into lately! Last week was my birthday (the big 28!) and CJ and I celebrated by going to a Kanye West concert and being low key couch potatoes. It was excellent, and included everything that I love (dancing, chilling out, and eating burgers and fries). I finally started Stranger Things on Netflix, and I'm digging the 80's vibe but it's scaring the crap out of me! The fire alarm went off in my apartment today and I nearly jumped out of my skin after watching several episodes last night.

If you've checked out my Instagram story today you can see I picked up a new pair of jeans at Nordstrom. I was casually looking through their site the other day and found this pair on sale for $40! That's $30 off the original price so you know I had to snag them. I love my 'Jamie' Topshop skinny jeans in grey so I had a feeling I would love these too (which I also purchased at the Nordstrom's annual sale for $39). I often find myself wishing I had a black pair of jeans when I get ready to go out, so I took this as the perfect opportunity to buy a pair. Normally, I'm a 27 in jeans but I size up in Topshop. The 'Jamies' are actually so stretchy that I can get away with wearing a 30/30 and have a small gap at the waist (for reference I'm 5'3" and 120lb's, and the 30 length just grazes my ankle). Moral of the story, never, ever, ever pay full price! I almost bought a second pair of Topshop jeans for full price because I loved them so much, but I'm glad I didn't!.

At casa de Perception of Grace we're in the process of revamping our home decor. Last week I finished my DYI project of painting and distressing our dinning room chairs. I couldn't be more thrilled with how they came out, full post coming soon!

This morning I took a stroll down to the Seattle public library to return a book and pick up some new reads. While most of the books on my to-read list have me very far down on the "hold" list, I like to hit up the new book section on the first floor to tide me over. My favorite books to read are thrillers and murder mysteries, so I grabbed Death in Cold Water by Patrick Skalka. I'll let you know what I think!

It's Okay to Laugh is a memoir written by Nora McInerary Purmort, author of the blog My Husband's Tumor When I read the jacket to this book it sounded weirdly familiar. Turns out I had read her blog years ago before her husband had passed. Normal, I try to limit my extra curricular reading to thrillers or more uplifting material because my day job can be very emotionally draining. However,  this excerpt from the inside jacket convinced me that this book is worth my time.

This is for people who aren’t sure if they’re saying or doing the right thing (you’re not, but nobody is). This is for people who had their life turned upside down and just learned to live that way. For people who have laughed at a funeral or cried in a grocery store. This is for everyone who wondered what exactly they’re supposed to be doing with their one wild and precious life. I don’t actually have the answer, but if you find out, will you text me?

I enjoy reading books that make you feel like you're having a friendly conversation with the writer. Nora's tone is casual and inviting and the reviews on amazon are overwhelmingly positive. I'll let you what I think when I'm done!

In my quest to make our apartment cozier I stumbled into Anthropologie today (dangerous place to shop as everything is so dang pretty!). They were having a sale of 40% all sale items and I managed to leave almost unscathed by only purchasing The Forest Feast for $14. It's a perfect coffee table/cookbook with stunning photos and apetizing vegeterian recipes. Can you tell it goes with my color theme?! Do you have any recommendations for pretty coffee table books?

These Ardell 116 eyelashes are my new favorite accessory. I've been in a makeup rut lately and decided to throw these on today, and I'm so glad I did. The band is thin and flexible I can easily wear them without eye liner and get away with it. My lashes are long and full naturally, but falsies are a fun way to bring attention to the eyes. These lashes are very subtle and give the eye a cat like appearance. I trimmed them slightly and used House of Lashes glue to apply. If you struggle with false eyelashes like I do, don't feel discouraged. Many of my favorite YouTuber's have how-to videos, like this one by Chrisspy. I practice often, and each time I notice the application process gets easier. Best part about these lashes is the price! I purchased this set for $3.50 at Nordstrom's Rack, but you can catch them on Amazon for $10.36 for a pack of 4!

If you're looking for some new music, look no further than TroyBoi. I first heard this song on Chrisspy's Gangster Clown video last year (Do You?) , and recently heard him again on her follow up video with ili ( I Like It). His beats are so unique and clean sounding, guaranteed to get you up out of your seat. Please go over to his Soundcloud and check him out, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for visiting the blog today, it means so much to me! I'll have a post up later on how I refinished my dinning room chairs!

I hope you find the good in today,

P.S Cj showed me these videos with today and I thought they were too hilarious not to share! They're over a year old but really hilarious, if you're a fan of Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, or The Jinx, check them out!
